Our Diets
The crucial point of this program is that it is NOT a diet. By definition a diet has a beginning and an end, what happens when it ends? There are also negative feelings associated with the word “diet,” the common statements “I can’t eat that right now, I’m on a diet, this sucks!!” or “I can’t go to dinner with everyone because the food there is not in my approved meal plan.” The average person on a severe carbohydrate restriction diet will last about 3 months… Why? PEOPLE NEED CARB’S!!! Not only do most vitamins and minerals come from carbohydrates, a major percentage of energy your body can produce is directly related to the consumption of carbohydrates.
When we say carbohydrates this includes: All fruits and vegetables, variety of grains such as rice, pasta, cereal, and bread; also including various form of sugar and sweets. One of the common overlooked carbohydrates that are limited are sugary drinks.. The average American in 2001 consumed 135 pounds of sugar a year, half of which came from liquids!!!
What we focus on is teaching you the basic concepts regarding nutrition: How often you eat, your portion size, and your food choices, how to properly meal plan, prepare a meal, shop at the supermarket, read a foods ingredient label, count calories, and what to choose when eating out
